Coach Callaway is the Head Coach for the Valley Stompers 16A - Callaway team. He brings a wealth of knowledge as an experienced Head Varsity High School Coach and and 18 Gold Head Coach. In addition to his work on the field with the Valley Stompers "A" and Stompers "B" teams, Coach Callaway gives individual and team lessons as well as clinics to coaches. He is known as a coach that will meet each player wherever they are at, and take them to the next level. His teaching philosphy is centered in the concept that coaches need to coach not just a player's mind and body but also their heart and soul.
Coach Callaway has coached every level of softball from T-Ball through 18 Gold and High School Varsity. He has over 20 years experience coaching in the Stompers and Valley Stompers travel softball organization. He is currently in his 3rd year as the Head Varsity Coach at California High School in San Ramon and previously spent 8 years as the Head Varsity Coach at Monte Vista High School in Danville.
Coach Callaway has twice been named the East Bay Softball Coach of the Year, in 2004 by the Contra Costa Times and in 2005 by the ANG News Group. He was inducted into SRVGAL's Hall of Fame in 2003 for his long term commitment and contributions to both the league and the game.
Coach Callaway also serves as SRVGAL’s VP of Program Development. He is responsible for the training and development of all coaches and players both on the field and at their indoor Academy. In addition to teaching softball skills to individuals and teams, he gives numerous clinics each year to both players and coaches. He is also the administrator and coordinator for all age groups of the Stomper and Valley Stomper travel programs.
